Medical Qualifications

Professor Mark Thursz qualified in 1986 from King’s College Hospital Medical School in London with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree. He became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1989 and completed his Medical Doctorate from the Imperial College, London in 1996. Prof Thursz undertook further training at King’s College, Northwick Park, and St Mary’s hospitals.

Medical Experience

Prof Thursz is a Member of the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG), the British Association for the Study of the Liver (BASL), the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL), for which he is also Secretary General, and the American Association for the Study of the Liver (AASL).

Prof Thursz is Head of the Section of Hepatology and Gastroenterology at Imperial College and Lead Clinical Hepatology at Imperial College Healthcare. Prof Thursz specialises in General Hepatology, Viral Hepatitis and Fatty Liver Disease. He is available for private patients at The Princess Grace Hospital, London.
