Medical Qualifications
Mr Rod Irvine is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. He qualified in London and completed training in general surgery, obtaining Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons. Mr Irvine went on to undertake training in obstetrics and gynaecology in the North West Thames Region where he was a fellow in minimal access surgery and gained a scholarship in this discipline.
Medical Experience
Mr Irvine undertook research in reproductive medicine at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital attached to the IVF unit at the Lister Hospital. Having completed his research, he set up the assisted conception unit at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. Mr Irvine then pursued advanced training in minimal access surgery both in the UK and abroad. He was appointed to his substantive Consultant position at the South London Health Trust and St Thomas’ Hospital where he is a member of the Gynae-Oncology Team caring for women in the South East London Cancer Network.
Mr Irvine is a member of the National Executive Committee of the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP), he has lectured in his chosen fields both nationally and internationally, and organised national meetings. He is actively involved in training in minimal access surgery, has published several articles and a book.
