Medical Qualifications
Mr Clemens von Widekind qualified in 1988 as medical practitioner at Feie Universitaet Berlin, Germany. He received a Doctorate in Medicine in 1989 for his scientific work on the use of laparoscopy (keyhole surgery) for the treatment of pelvic abscesses. In 2001 Mr von Widekind received Membership of the Royal College Obstetrics & Gynaecology and a Certificate for Advanced Ultrasound awarded by DEGUM, the German Society for Ultrasound in Medicine.
Medical Experience
Mr von Widekind has been a Specialist for Obstetrics and Gynaecology since 1996 and is currently a Lead Surgeon for severe endometriosis. He is an advanced laparoscopic surgeon and has been involved in pioneering keyhole surgery since 1988. He introduced Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy (LaSH Hysterectomy) to the East Midlands at the BMI Three Shires Hospital in Northampton and 95% of his patients have laparoscopic procedures both for hysterectomy and fertility sparing operations.
Mr von Widekind is also an expert in ultrasound and has pioneered a number of one-stop ultrasound clinics in the East Midlands. He has been awarded several clinical excellence awards for his contribution to the patient care in the NHS and has been Director for the Department for Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Northampton General Hospital since 2009.
He specialises in the treatment of severe endometriosis, ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids and pelvic pain particularly through advanced laparoscopic surgery. Patients can book an appointment with him at his private practice, BMI Three Shires Hospital, Northampton.
