Medical Qualifications
Mr Fakouri graduated from medical school in Duesseldorf, Germany in 1996, obtained a Medical Doctorate from the University of Duesseldorf in 1998, and qualified as a Neurosurgeon from the Jung-Stilling-Krankenhaus, a teaching hospital of the University of Bonn, Germany, in 2003.
Medical Experience
From 2003 to his appointment as a Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon at the Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital in 2009, he was employed as a Consultant Neurosurgeon in Cologne, Germany. Mr Fakouri completed a fellowship at the Centre for Spinal Studies and Surgery in Nottingham in 2008 and a further fellowship at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital in 2009.
He is a member of the British Association of Spinal Surgeons, AO Spine, Eurospine, German Society of Neurosurgeons.
Mr Fakouri is one of the few spinal surgeons who has completed dual spinal training in Orthopaedics and Neurosurgery in order to offer treatment for a full range of general and complex spinal disorders. Mr Fakouri is also experienced in teaching, training and research and has published a number of articles.
Mr Fakouri is interested in all pathologies in the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine leading to neck and back pain, including degenerative disc disease, spinal canal stenosis, cervical myelopathy, disc replacement surgery, complex spinal surgery, tumours, traumatic and osteoporotic fractures to the vertebra, sagittal and coronal imbalance. The majority of his procedures are performed using minimally invasive techniques, microscope and endoscope. Mr Fakouri is a Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital, London, and a Consultant Spinal Surgeon at the London Bridge and Lister hospitals where he is available to see private patients.
