Simon Hughes trained at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Medical School, where he also gained a BSc with First Class honours. His specialist training in Clinical Oncology included posts at The Middlesex Hospital, University College London Hospitals, and Guy’s & St. Thomas’ Hospitals. Dr Hughes specialises in the treatment of Urological cancers, Kidney Cancer, Bladder Cancer and Prostate Cancer. He is currently the Director for South East London Clinical Oncology Registrar Training Programme and is a member of the Editorial Panel for the British Journal of Urology International, as well as Oncology Council Member for the Royal Society of Medicine He is currently part of a research team introducing new technology into radiotherapy planning and delivery for Urological Cancers.

Dr Simon Hughes is Consultant Clinical Oncologist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, and an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Department of Imaging Sciences at King’s College London. Simon leads the Clinical Oncology Research and Development Team at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospitals. His research interests include tumour motion, radiotherapy dose escalation and the combination of novel agents with radiotherapy. He has been involved in several clinical trials in this field and is on the Trial Management Group for 2 UK multicentre trials. He has published many papers and abstracts.
