Medical Qualifications
Dr Shahid Khan qualified in 1992 from the United Medical & Dental Schools of Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, University of London with a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Immunology before going on to complete his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree at the same universities in 1994. Dr Khan has since been awarded a PhD from Imperial College London for studies in liver cancer, and obtained Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians in 2010.
Medical Experience
Dr Khan has completed specialist registrar training at hospitals in London, following which he completed specialist training in General Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He is a Consultant in Gastroenterology with Specialist accreditation in Hepatology and also in General Internal Medicine. His sub-specialty interests within Hepatology include the investigation of abnormal liver function tests, liver cancer, fatty liver disease, viral hepatitis, autoimmune and metabolic liver disease, cirrhosis and alcoholic liver disease. Within Gastroenterology Dr Khan specialises in the treatment of dyspepsia, abdominal pain, as well as investigation of a change in bowel habit and endoscopy, including both gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
Dr Khan is available to treat patients at his private practice, the London Clinic Liver Centre Consulting Rooms and is also a Clinical Senior Lecturer and Consultant Physician for the Department of Hepatology & Gastroenterology, Division of Diabetes Endocrinology and Metabolism, and the Department of Medicine at the St Mary's Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital campuses, Imperial College London.
