Medical Qualifications
Dr Marcus Harbord completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiology and Clinical Pharmacology in 1989 and went on to qualify with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree in 1992. He passed the Federation Licensing Examination (Pennsylvania, USA) in 1993 and went on to become a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 1995. Dr Harbord was awarded Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry in 2002, from the University of London and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 2008.
Medical Experience
Dr Harbord is a member of a number of professional societies including the British Society of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterology Association, the Royal College of Physicians, the Medical Protection Society and the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation. He has also published a number of books and papers on a variety of gastroenterology disorders.
Dr Harbord is Lead Gastroenterologist at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital where he also treats as a Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist. He is also a Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College and is available for private patients at The Lister Hospital, London.
Dr Harbord looks after patients with a wide range of gastroenterological conditions, including Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), chronic diarrhoea or constipation, abdominal pain and bloating, malnutrition and rectal bleeding.
